Mothers' Union in Manchester is linked with the diocese of Zaria in Nigeria. Nigeria recently held elections which were described by the United Nations as generally fair.
Mama Zaria (the bishop's wife as well as MU president) writes:
Good day.
We made our journey to Saminaka Ugama on the 16th of April. On palm sunday it was a day of joy for the village and especialy the members, we had problem with the propeler of the vehicle we took but thank GOD we came back to zaria safely.
we have big problem at hand following the release of our presidencial result. Hoodlums have burnt over 20 churches between yesterday and today, five of our churches and two of our vicarages were burnt down, we have police guarding our Bishops court at night, our trust is that the host of heaven will protect us. Please pray along with us that the situation will not turn religious. We have 24 hours curfew since yesterday, many Christians ran to our army barracks.
please pray for us
